History

The two musicians met for the first time in San Francisco in 1997. The same year they founded the duet Saitensprung and gave their first concert at the Bechtel International Centre at Stanford University. Soon afterwards Esther Schobel and Kirsten Tangemann started to develop their own musical style: virtuoso, modern, and always slightly at variance with mainstream taste. In 1999 the duet was separated geographically. Esther Schobel went to Vienna in order to teach classical guitar. Kirsten Tangemann followed a year later. Since the turn of the millenium Saitensprung has fully resumed its musical activities.
